On September 2, the 2021 National Surfing Championship (shortboard) and the National Games preliminaries ended in Wanning Riyue Bay. The competition attracted a total of 124 athletes from 13 surfing teams from all provinces and municipalities across the country. After the competition, the Hainan surfing team won 3 gold and 1 silver. The surfing finals of the 14th National Games will continue to be held in Wanning Riyue Bay from September 8th to 14th.

It is reported that the competition includes three groups: open group, U18 group and U15 group, which are divided into 16 sub-items according to individual events, team competitions and relay competitions.

In the individual events, Jiang Shulou of Liaoning team won the men’s first place  , and the second place was won by Huang Yige of  Hainan team. Jiang Kaiteng of the Shandong team won the third place; in the women’s individual competition, the Henan team’s Wang Xueyin won first place, Wu Yaomei of Shanxi team ranked second, and Dong Kexin of Henan team ranked third.

In the team competition, Hainan's Huang Yige, Liu Chen, and Wu Shidong won the first place in the men's open group; Henan team composed of Wang Xueyin, Dong Kexin, and Zhang Wenyao won the first place in the women's open group.

In the relay race, Hainan’s Huang Yige, Liu Chen, Wu Shidong, and Huang Yunweng won the first place in the men’s open group, Shanxi team composed of Wang Yitian, Wu Yaomei, Fu Shiyuan, and Wang Yiyao won the first place in the women’s open group. The Hainan team composed of Zhang Jiahao, Wang Chengzheng, Wu Shidong and Ji Jiahao won the U18 men's first place. Liu Wenqing of Shandong team, Yang Siqi of Sichuan team, Jin Shuhan of Liaoning team, and Lei Fang of Zhejiang team won the first place of U18 women's cross-provincial team.

According to the rules of the National Games surfing finals competition, 13 teams, each team has two men and two women, 50 people compete for two National Games gold medals, this gold medal will be the first surfing gold medal in the history of the National Games , it is of great significance, the morale of each team is high, and they strive to win gold medal.

According to the preliminary results, Hainan, Liaoning, Henan and Shanxi teams are strong and are the favorites to win the gold. As the list of teams for the finals has not been fully finalized, it is difficult to predict who will win the gold medal. .

According to the schedule of the competition, the opening ceremony of the Surfing Final of the 14th National Games will be held in the morning of September 8. The final will be held from September 8 to 14 and the award ceremony is expected to be held on September 14.
